And guess where ours just moved to?!
Stockholm!
17th September we packed our gear, saddled the horses and hightailed it to Hägersten…a slightly southwest suburb of Sweden’s capitol city of Stockholm …
It is a little hard to move after spending the first part of our mission – 11 months – in the special Shangri La city of Karlskrona. “Hard” as in ripping off a bandaid because we truly feel part of so many peoples lives we have come to love. But the purpose of missionaries is to bring people closer to Christ. We feel we have done so and know we have made forever friends. Now we are asked to continue our journey to serve in another area of Sweden and already we are open to giving Stockholm all we’ve got – with all our hearts!
Stockholm is so different from the more laid back counties in the south of Sweden where rolling landscapes, farms, and back roads always offer something new to see and enjoy throughout the seasons. Even within the first week of being here in Stockholm, we have enjoyed so many ‘firsts’! We have walked Stockholm’s waterfront personally! We have taken the Tunnelbana and found our way in and out of Stockholm…by ourselves! We have been to the Sweden-Stockholm Temple twice! We have even seen a real Tomte who was hoping nobody would recognize him…!! And we went with friends to spend some time walking around Gamla Stan which is Stockholm’s well-known old historic district with it’s bustling focus on specialty shops and local history. And, we have attended the Hägersten Ward and and been very welcomed there. Yes, everything seems to indicate that we can look forward to many wonderful experiences here in Stockholm.
