Dear Diary…

Reporting in!… Just about six months have flown by literally. We’ve both turned a year older, we’ve been through a Fall and Winter season, met new friends, felt what it feels like to walk in history’s footsteps, and have felt an appreciation for our own families who were once part of Sweden’s history. We came to Sweden to share the Gospel – the good news that Christ actually lives and that His teachings have been restored in their original format and are available to anyone seeking the truth about life and its purpose. And we have seen how the Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed families and individuals who recognize it’s value to them personally and to all humanity.

From the beginning, life as depicted in Swedish art: ‘Life from cradle to grave’…the road to which we all will travel as we take our turn on earth. But the Good News is that we will, as Christ did, literally rise – and continue to live. That is the miracle of the blessing of what Christ did for each of us. Makes a person mighty glad to get that information!

Guess What’s Coming! Easter Is In the Air!

Every holiday is important, traditional, cultural, and for us it’s a chance to experience being a little more ‘Swedish’! So we join in! Doesn’t everyone go get birch branches and make an Easter Tree to celebrate the coming Easter season? Of course you do…or, at least we did! Then we chose some little decos and added feathers and now we wait….because in about two to three weeks when Easter arrives, all the little leaf buds will be in ”full leaf bloom’ reminding everyone that hope is eternal and Christ lives and will come again, and that He keeps his promises. So keep this picture handy as the ‘before’ pic and later you’ll see our masterpiece d’ resistance!

Welcome Light! Welcome Spring!

With Daylight Savings Time beginning tomorrow and the first days of Spring upon us, it means that here in Sweden, Winter’s cold and darkness is being replaced by hours and hours of more light as we move towards the summer solstice. Then the cycle begins again as the days get shorter and by fall we enter the dark time.

We’re coming up to just the beginning and hope of Spring! Winter wasn’t so bad here in Karlskrona…we made it through! Actually, the couple of times it did snow and stuck around for a few days, it was so, so, beautiful everywhere! Snow comes with such grace and almost reverence. Believe me, I know how annoying it can be and inconvenient and plain not welcomed…but still, have you ever felt it’s silence and been in awe of the marvel of it? Just a little? How else would we appreciate with such delightful anticipation the little First Responders who wake up from Winter’s nap to tell the world that Spring is near?

“I’d been reading up on comparative religion. The thing is that all major religions have the Golden Rule in common. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Not always the same words but the same meaning.”

“Happy Spring!”
