Letting the Light Lead You…
Turning 69 in life… makes you wonder about all the miles, the wear and tear, tread and or any kind of life expectancy warranty. Personally, I have no qualms about letting people know how old I am. My motto is, ‘bring ’em on!’
Don’t let the wrinkles fool you, because it’s not about the wrinkles. Nor is it about the wear and tear, etc. That part is just temporary. Processing through life is a do-it-yourself project. You can’t be a grandma or grandpa unless you ‘be’ the part…not just ‘look’ the part. At least not the kind of grandma like mine was to me. Looking back it’s so funny that I don’t remember her ever being ‘young’. But even now I only remember how good I felt when we were together and how she inspired me. Nobody cares what you look like so much as what you make them feel…especially loved and cared about.
So how are things going for you? Life goes by so quickly…time flies…day and night switch places before your eyes. All of a sudden you realize in a surreal moment something that you hadn’t realized: that the changes of aging have tapped you on your shoulder and caught up with you big time. And it’s not just aging…but life itself.
Well, there’s good news here and there’s bad. The bad is that you can’t postpone aging….you might as well hope that next year you’ll hear that happy birthday melody and you might as well forget the wrinkles and fix your hair before you get your picture taken and be glad…(smiling about it is optional). The good news is that the soul never ages and that’s why you feel the injustice of aging when inside yourself you are convinced you feel like you’re still 22!
Makes you think. What do I have to show for my being me while I’ve been here on earth becoming me? Good question. Here’s another question: “Do I like me?” Have you ever wished you could do anything to lift the weight of your past off your back and really start all over again free and clean with a fresh start? Who would you listen to if you were to learn for yourself that this premise is a reality? Christ himself, you say? Good choice. I will tell you this: He lives today and for you to have that new beginning you really ought to take him up on his offer of forgiveness through repentance or turning your heart to what he taught and which is available to all who seek to follow Him. He put His life on the line and died to make sure you could become free of your mistakes no matter what they are…if you follow the Light and let Him show you how to make your wish your personal reality. Maybe, this is your moment.
