Maybe you’ve asked yourself, why would anyone become missionaries for Jesus Christ? It’s interesting that there are so many hundreds if not thousands of different doctrines out in the world today…but only one Jesus Christ. It doesn’t change the fact and reality that Christ came, taught his doctrine purely and simply from his own lips, authorized twelve men to teach and perform sacred ordinances that prepared people to understand the purposes of life and to make and keep sacred covenants. His teachings and commandments as well as his perfect example provide a sure way for us to follow and become like him. A person can recognize and know the validity of what Christ taught by living His precepts. He taught the importance of faith in Him and what he came to do for us. He taught the principle of repentance and forgiveness, to be sorry for our mistakes and misdeeds and accept responsibility for them and choose to do better. Through the covenant of baptism, (a two way promise between Him and us), we commit to follow Him and keep His commandments…and he offers us the wonderful gift of the Holy Ghost as our personal guide throughout our lives. Our promise to Him is to live virtuous lives in spite of what the world offers, until our turn on earth is over and we return to be with our Heavenly Father again. The law of justice requires that we pay for our own sins or mistakes, but Jesus’ sacrifice satisfied the demands of justice and frees us from punishment, if we accept what He did for us and follow His teachings. Because of Jesus Christ’s gift of love, our lives and our personal family relationships never need to be dissolved by death, for as He rose on the third day after his death, so will we all rise. So, while over the centuries Christ’s pure doctrine has been distorted, changed, and misunderstood, the good news of the Gospel is that his teachings in their purity have been restored once again to the earth for those who seek them. In 1830, God restored to the earth the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ in it’s fullness. To good and honest people seeking answers to life’s questions and searching for happiness, He promises them that amid the chaos of the world they will find not only the answers, but truth, peace, and freedom from burdens he already paid the price for. What would you give to truly know where you can find true happiness and meaning in life? Are Christ’s original teachings really available today? As representatives of Jesus Christ we can promise you the answer is yes.
